Silent Witnesses

Silent Witnesses - What are they witnessing? What kind of stories are they trying to convey? The materials used in these sculptures give a somber feeling to the work. Yet the subtle gestures suggest that these figures are not about to give up. Instead they are moving, embarking on a journey. They are not frozen in time, they are letting the world know what they have witnessed.

The Silent Witnesses are created in burlap and wax; some are cast in bronze.

Po's witnesses were shown in two sculpture gardens during the summer of 2009, the Kingsbrae Garden Sculpture Competition in St. Andrews, New Brunswick and Kiwi Gardens in Perth, Ontario.

Po gratefully acknowledges the receipt of the Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Assistance grant for her participation in the 2009 Kingsbrae Garden Sculpture Competition.
